Early Lessons in Building Trauma-Sensitive Schools
Produced in collaboration with the Partnership for Resilience (the Partnership), this report highlights early lessons from the Partnership's efforts to create school-health-community partnerships to foster and build the resilience of children living in Illinois. Rebuilding for a New Normal: A Study of the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Trauma-Responsive Schools and Key Recommendations for Communities
Published by EdRedesign's By All Means member, Partnership for Resilience, this report examines the impact of the pandemic on students, families, teachers, and other school staff in partner districts in Illinois and offers key recommendations for moving forward. The Partnership spoke with 87 administrators, teachers, support staff, parents, and trauma responsive school experts and provided a set of recommendations for meeting the significant challenges posed by the pandemic. ‘Breakthrough is the place I can be myself’: Connecting Somerville Youth to Out-of-School Opportunities
This case study spotlights Breakthrough Greater Boston's ongoing collaboration with the Somerville Children's Cabinet in Massachusetts to narrow the opportunity gap by improving access to quality afterschool and summer learning. Through the program, middle and high school students participate in tutoring, mentoring, internships, and workshops to help them apply to and thrive in college.
