Local Children's Cabinet Network

Local Children's Cabinet Network

Officially launched in April 2019, the Local Children's Cabinet Network (LCCN) supports Children's Cabinets in localities across the country. In this network, members are able to learn from both experts and each other about Children's Cabinets as a tool for improving systems-level governance and population-level outcomes.

Advancing a New Paradigm for Systems of Support and Opportunity for Children and Youth Using Coalition Building and Policy Change

Children's Cabinets are collaborative action bodies composed of agencies inside and outside of government, with responsibilities and interests in seeing children thrive in school and in life.

The immediate goal of convening national leaders at the summit is to enhance their ability to collaborate across sectors. Developing common goals, sharing and comparing data, and addressing gaps in resources allows leaders to craft better policies and decisions, ultimately serving children and youth in more effective ways. Network members have access to expert panels and roundtable discussions, peer networking opportunities, and exclusive resources, publications, and tools. The network convened in-person for the first time in July 2019.

If you are interested in joining the network or have additional questions, please fill out the short contact form below and we will contact you with more information. The Local Children's Cabinet Network is co-managed by The Forum for Youth Investment (as part of its work aligning children's cabinets across the local, state and federal levels), the EdRedesign Lab at Harvard Graduate School of Education (as part of its fieldwork with communities including its By All Means consortium), and The Children's Funding Project. Please note that there is no fee to join this network thanks to the Forum for Youth Investment and the EdRedesign Lab at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Children's Cabinet Toolkit

Co-developed by the Children's Funding Project, the EdRedesign Lab at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and the Forum for Youth Investment, this toolkit is designed to equip mayors and their staff with practical information and resources to launch a children's cabinet in their local community. In particular, the toolkit is intended to help mayors accomplish the goals outlined in the EdRedesign's By All Means (BAM) Measures of Success framework 'Committed Leadership' indicator by guiding them through the process of developing a children's cabinet.
