Can College Students Be Taught To Embrace Failure?
In one episode of "The Simpsons," the family's patriarch Homer tells his children: "Kids, you tried your best, and you failed miserably. The lesson is: never try. That's one lesson you can learn from failure — but it’s not the one professors at Smith College are trying to teach their students. A new initiative at the school called “Failing Well” is hoping to teach high-achieving kids that flunking a test or getting a B- or getting dumped isn’t just OK — it’s a huge part of learning and growing up.
